the "Cajun Heartland" and the unique culture of South Louisiana.
A visit to the South Louisiana town of Abbeville by most campers usually begins with just a stop-over on their way to someplace else. It doesn't take long for them to fall under the spell of the area's unique culture and "Joie de vivre".
The town, rich in architectural design, offers the best in Cajun restaurants, shops dotting its historic downtown a area, a community theater all within a mile or two from the park.
Visit the first seafood patio in Louisiana to serve boiled crawfish, or take in an intimate concert at the oldest
stock yard/auction barn in the parish. Drive the countryside to view farmers harvesting crawfish, sugar cane,
soybeans or rice. Vermilion Parish is a treat for birdwatchers, and keep your eyes open, you may even get to see
an alligator.
Take in a variety of festivals throughout the year. Learn about south Louisiana's history in the parish's many
museums.

Sounds on the Square
Spring & Fall Series happen on Thursdays. Free music in our downtown square beginning at 5:30 till 9:00. Beverages and food for purchase, bring your lawn chairs. No outside drinks/ food allowed!
Abbeville's Farmers Market
Magdalen Square, Downtown Abbeville
An open air market featuring fresh fruits and vegetables along with other homemade and handmade items will be on sale from 8 am-1 pm.
